Carbohydrate. Polysaccharides means many sugars and carbohydrate is a sugar made of many sugars called monosaccharides meaning one sugar. An example of a monosaccharide is lactose, which can also be a polysaccharide, because it composed of two sugars, glucose and galactose.

A polysaccharide is a molecule comprised of multiple sugar residues. For example, fructose (table sugar) is a disaccharide (also a polysaccharide) comprised of glucose and galactose.
