Yes, football pads do weigh you down, but not a lot. It depends on the type of pads that you wear. No, it doesn't hurt when you get tackled and you are wearing pads. That is the whole reason for football pads. To protect the person wearing them from injury. It is possible to be injured and those injuries can be quite serious, but serious injuries are fairly rare in football because of the pads. You are more likely to be seriously injured in a car accident. If you play football, you will get some bumps and bruises, but these are all minor and go away in a few days. One of the keys that was taught to us when I played was that if you don't go hard every play, you are more likely to get hurt.
