I know that Doctors do wonderful things for people that are from other Countries, they fly them here (including their families) and don't have to pay a dime, and these pepole are getting major surgery. Yet we pay throught the nose, and some people don't have Health Ins. because they cannot afford it. It just seems unfair. How do you feel?

If you all think medical care is expensive now, wait until it's free. It'll have the efficiency of the post office and the bedside manner of the IRS. A better idea would be W's idea of lowering taxes so that one can actually afford insurance on their own. But an even better idea would be eliminating taxes to a VERY large degree, so that one can actually save money, so that if something major comes up, in whatever category of living, one would have the money to pay for it, instead of the idiots in DC taking 33% of my pay to give to someone else. Someone else wants money, they need to work for it like I do.

Our healthcare situation is atrocious-unless you're well off. A 12 yr old in Maryland just died from an infection spread to his brain. Because we refuse to offer basic medical or dental care, what would have cost perhaps a couple hundred dollars cost $250,000. A single mother of three who worked but they offered no medical or dental insurance and she apparently made too much for medicaid. A friend who had insurance where she worked-a hospital-has terminal stomach cancer. In two months, her "portion" after the insurance pays is $26,000. She's using her death benefit to pay the hospital that provided such stellar insurance.

We're in bad shape-and it will only get worse. If people don't at least get basic care-then what?

I think we need to help our uninsured FIRST, however it seems our government would rather dole out billions for a hopeless civil war in Iraq, than help provide affordable health coverage for our working poor and middle class. But I do believe that children injured in conflicts that involve the US should receive treatment too, or if their ONLY chance of survival is to be treated here. Children are innocent.

Typically those who are flown here from around the world for free treatment have some rare disease or condition. These cases are opportunities for doctors to hone their skills and learn about new things. They don't just fly over someone to take care of their sniffles.

If I need an operation it would be nice if it was free because I'm 18 and I don't have health insurance.
