No.
The poor will always be with us, for many reasons. There will always be people in the world who have physical or mental disabilities that make it difficult for them to hold a job. There will always be people who are taken advantage of or abandoned by others. There will always be slackasses who would rather live off the meager assistance their government offers than go out and work. No matter how good our systems or programs or charitable tendancies become, you can't change human nature.

No poverty will always be around
but I believe you can make a differences by sponsoring a child.
Children grow up and with an education can find some career.
Even if they are not the smarts at there school. One boy could only go to primary because he did not score high enough to go on to high but he had learn enough to start repairing shoes business and making shoe shop. And then a food cafe and then finally a restaurant.
Excellent students have a chance of becoming doctors, lawyers.

Probably. The truth is that more than anything else, conflict and nut jobs are what cause terrible poverty like we see in Africa and parts of Asia. The type of poverty we see in the US, where a person has a TV and is overweight, but can't buy so much is not such a real problem comparatively. THat kind of poverty will probably never end.
