A cat.
Most of us in the U.S. are a bit lazy. We get home from work, we want dinner and the TV. We do not want to have to take a dog for a walk. Cats take care of themselves and love to curl up on our sofa-potato-laps.
I can no longer work due to a disability. So, I'm getting a puppy to help get me on a daily routine and to move around more. She is joining our 10 1/2 yr old cat.

I believe it is a dog, because everywhere you look there are people with their dogs. Of course I have never been to their houses so I do not know whether they have a cat or any other small animals but my guess would be that more dogs are being purchased, I beieve that dogs are the most popular and the most favourite.
