I live in Louisiana but my ex lives in Wyoming now. He is telling me that he will only give me 500 a month..He makes over 4 I believe with NO bills because he lives with his daddy. I was just wondering if there is a certain percentage? Thanks

I live in Louisiana (New Orleans area) also and I just helped my friend get child support, she had no ride to file papers, etc... anyway if it is ordered by the courts here it will be 17% of his monthly income before taxes per child.

What they do is they take the total it costs to raise a child based on your bills and childcaare expenses, etc. Then they look at what he makes and what you make to figure it out. For instance my ex made $100K/yr and I only made $25K. So he has to pay for 75% of what it costs to raise our child which in our case is about $1100/mo.Its hard to figure out unless we knew all your expenses and how much you and he make exactly.
