Like most of Jamaica, that area has lots of cool history. Much of it involves pirates. At that bay the pirate Jack Rackham was captured. That was the pirate played in the recent movies about Pirates of the Caribbean.

That bay was also one where whales were brought in four processing. The name came from the blood from the whales.

Its called so because years ago whales were slaughtered there,on a large scale, and under inhumane basis,of cruelty,by earlier settlers and ships use to dock there on a more regular basis the area also is shaped like a horse shoe.
But this was done in the 18th century and maybe before and after.
