Just a quick question for you lovely guys and gals out there, how many of you have been stuck doing the same old job for many a year now and fancy a total change?
I have been a dental nurse for over 6 years now, oh i know it's not a really long time, but the times they are a changing!
And to be honest as much as i enjoy my job, it's the Bloody Public who really cheese me off, im sick to my back teeth(!) of being abused, yelled at and verbally threatened because you cant make an appointment for somebody, being threatened with violence and told that im going to get my head kicked in after work, having the surgery windows smashed, the list is endless and this is form the clinically sane patients!
So people im off, i have decided to train to become an Embalmer!
Yes that's right, from the down right rude, to the deceased!
A strange choice? what do you think? if you could do any job in the world what would it be and why?

Hello,

(ANS) Frankly, nobody deserves to be abused or threatened in anyway whilst just doing a job like that. ( I suppose if your a police man or woman then you have to accept that verbal abuse can go with that territory. But there again I've seen on TV police officers arresting people for verbal abuse).

Anyway, I think after 6years your probably ready for a change of job or career.

**On the one hand its important to recognise that your fed up & unhappy with your current position at work. And its very important NOT to stay stuck in the same job now you've identified why your unhappy.

**Just be aware that dealing with dead people might NOT be quite what you imagine it too be? I think you should NOT make any hasty choices just yet, I would strongly strongly advise you to go and get some free experience working with corpes before you make a more final decision on becoming an embalmer!!

**Have you had anyone close to you die? do you really know the full reality of death? Have you touched and seen a dead body? DONT decide to be an embalmer until you have!!

**Perhaps your choice is a little extreme, from living abusive people i.e. the general public to dealing with corpes who obviously are NOT going to answer back? Think about this, it is a little bit from one extreme to another. I think you should take things slowly and DONT jump from one job to another career & job without some carefull consideration of whats involved here.

**Have you even considered, what if you dont like dealing with corpes?? what then?? It important to take enough time to ask these kinds of questions IMO.

I work with the public too. I'm thinking get stuffed you silly...... while smiling. Embalming a bit of a twist on the get stuffed! Can see where your are coming from. I wish I'd trained in horticulture when I was younger, now property development on a small scale. Cos I could make a silk purse out of a sows ear and make money at the same time.

Good Luck in your chosen path, it's your choice and someone has to do it, so they say. I've just started a new job this week, I've been cleaning for too long now, and sick off cleaning up after folk to have to come home and do it too. I am now a dinner lady in a primary school, although they can be little sods, I feel I'm going to enjoy it. When my daughter is old enough to look after herself, I might go back into Retail, like i did before kids came along.

Not a strange choice - i think if you go into a public service job you have to be a certain type of person anyway, and your previous job has shown you have the frame of mind to 'serve the public' even though the public don't always appreciate it. You go for it and good luck!

I would like the job of being a bedbug. I love being in bed and I would really enjoy all my meals being there and after each feast having a rest inside that person's mattress while he has to scratch frantically to relieve the irritation while he was being lazy, and I would look forward to have another meal from him next time he is asleep.
