Get a piece of rubber and a hose clamp. Slip it on and tighten it up. Then you can wait for the weekend to fix it if you want. If the water is not shut off and the pipe completely dry, the duct tape will probably start to leak in a short time. You could use a hose clamp over the tape.

It possibly might for just one day depending on the water pressure.

You definitely need to replace the pipe which I think you already know.

The idea one person mentioned sounds pretty good, but I'd add to it. Turn the water off for a bit, then get some teflon tape and wrap it around the area with the pinhole. Then wrap a small sheet of rubber around the pipe and use a few hose clamps that you can screw down tight to hold the rubber tightly in place over the holes. Between the teflon tape and the rubber that should help provide a pretty good seal till the pipe can be replaced tomorrow. I'd stick a bucket and or some old towels under the leak just in case.

I've never seen the pipe repair tape at a hardware store, but if you can find it that might work as a temporary fix too.

You may also want check that you don't have two different kinds of metal pipe that are being connected together like copper and galvanized. If so the difference in electrical charge will cause oxidation and the galvanized pipe to rust through. If that is the case you will need and insulated union to keep the difference in charge of the metals insulated from the other pipe. And insulated union basically uses a gasket to keep the two different types of metals from touching each other.

NO! The water will cause the tape glue to fail eventually and you'll have to do another repair. There is specialty tape available for leaking pipes, but again, it's not designed for a permanent fix (although I've seen it left in place for years). Try http://www.plumbingsupply.com/repairkit.html .

Second, if you have pinhole leaks, that's a sign of internal corrosion of the piping. You're better off replacing the pipe section where the pinhole leaks are since the corrosion is likely to occur elsewhere. The corrosion can be caused by multiple reasons, including poor pipe manufacturing. The best thing duct tape will do for you is give you time to get to the home center for the right repair materials.

Depends on the water pressure. The duct tape will leave glue residue on the pipe which will have to be cleaned up as well.

it depends how fast the water is coming out. usally tape does not go well with water.
