I've heard that crime and unusual incidents increase during a full moon. How does this work? I know that the moon controls the tides and the tides are made of water and our bodies are made of aprox. 70% water so is there a link? If so, does this prove astrology? Would planets positions play a part in our personality charachteristics?

Saffernellie, I know where the word comes from. I want to know where the scientific connection is that shows the moon effects our moods.

The myths about the moon's effects on human brain are just not myths. Most myths refer to distant effects on the emotions, and subsequently on behavior. That is, the perceptions of the moon by sensory inputs (mainly vision) have access to the emotional circuits which thereafter effect behavior and feelings. There is evidence that gravitational pull can influence our brains liquid part as much than it does sea or river, muh much more than the water size of our brains.

The gravitational pull of moon is much greater than the sun, while the earth's effect causes us to retain ourselves back in the ground. Mechanical disturbances of the brain or cerebrospinal fluid can effect blood circulation to the brain if these disturbances are strong enough.

As you learn more about the brain and external effects on it you will be astounded to find how many interesting things the brain can do and can respond to, but all of these can be ascribed to known neuroelectric and neurochemical processes.

This is just science, but some people look at it religiously too.

i believe alot of the full moon myth stemmed out during the witch trials, and has become more of a myth then actual truth. Why the witches chose the full moon for these rituals, they found that the full moon had power. in which maybe they are right after all ...

Chain Lightning is correct when there is no known force connecting the moon with our emotions, which neither proves nor disproves Astrology, yes in Astrology the moon does rule your emotions, your moods and the such... if you are asking do planets play a part in our personality characteristics, its up to you to believe if astrology is correct or not either way i find it to be crystal clear window into our subconscious.

I suggest you type "ocean tides" in your search engine to see the real science about tides. There are plenty of sites that can explain better than I can. (See links) Tides are totally predictable and vary throughout the world.
True we are mostly water but the water is binded in our cell structure so there is no tidal effect.
