internet explorer keeps not responding for no apparent reason microsoft thinks yahoo toolbar could be a problem and said they have a fix?when on yahoo site my computer stalls all the time i have spy sweeper virus protection shields on not sure if problem comes from there.

Try using a different browser, like Firefox or SeaMonkey..

Uninstall the Yahoo toolbar. Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

Uninstall tool bar
Turn off spy sweeper
Reinstall tool bar
Turn on spy sweeper

there is not any logical reason it is occurring. I advise you employ yet another, extra good browser. Safari Mozilla Firefox Google Chrome And extra... the three I advise are the three superb.
