Don't blame your daughter
that's just sentimental
and don't blame your mom
for all that you've done wrong
Your dad is not guilty
you came out a little faulty
and the factory closed
so you can't hold them liable
You come from an island,
you're cutting diamonds
with a rubbery knife
Your autograph is worthless
so don't send me letters
and don't mail me cash
'cause your money is no good
What's left in your matress
is holes and lack of love left
some hair from a horse,
and none of it is yours, man
You come from an island,
you're cutting diamonds
with a rubbery knife
And the song you sing today
wasn't always in your head,
the words you tryin' to say
are the ones you shouldn't 've said
they're glistenin' like diamonds,
go out and find' em
but don't blame your daughter
Read me your tombstone,
tell me you're sorry, fax me your will,
you owe me something still
Blood is like water
the bath that you poured me
has drained and it's gone,
don't blame it on your son
And the song you sing today
wasn't always in your head,
the words you tryin' to say
are the ones you shouldn't 've said
they're glistening like diamonds,
go out and find'em
The world is full of diamonds
go out and find'em
but don't blame your daughter

I like it. Like it a lot! Sounds like a lover or ex-husband telling a cheating woman to take responsibility for her own misery.

hi Michael :) the main one for me replaced into from 'In a broken Dream'. I heard the conceal by skill of Thunder first, and thought the lyric replaced into : "decide for my darling, decide for the place you may desire to be. You people all you're making with romantic love" when I later heard the unique by skill of Python Lee Jackson {the place the lyrics are in a distinctive order - and make much less experience}, I realised it replaced into certainly : "Did somebody bow their head? Did somebody smash the bread? good persons are in mattress in the previous 9 o' clock" in my view, i think of what i presumed it replaced into suits greater advantageous with the music accepted!

I think this persons messed up big time, let someone down...led the singer to believe they were a different person to the one they really are, they slipped up somewhere along the way and their true colours shone through, they got caught out and they are trying to make lame excuses for doing so

yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery and today is what it is. get up off the pity pot and take responsibility for your life! you are no longer bound by the restrictions of your childhood/parents...so what your life will be is in your hands. get up and do something. the song lyrics are sort of passive depressive...not uplifting at all.

The feeling I get is that the lyrics are telling the person whom the song is about to quit B*tchin' and blamin' other people for their crappy life. That's the vibe I get. :)
