Yep... fraternal twins are genetic. If they were identical, then no... Identical twins are a great fluke of nature.

The fathers side has nothing to do with twins. You and your mothers side determine twins and Identical twins just happen they arent conceived by genetics. So yes, you may have a chance at having twins. I am pregnant with Fraternal twin boys and they DONT run in my family. I am the first that I can think of that got pregnant with twins. Good Luck!!! (Its not all that its cracked up to be)

The genetic component of twinning (having twins) is hyper ovulation. It would seem that it runs in both of your parents families (if the twins are fraternal) so you probably have a greater chance of having twins as well. As for your husband's family that doesn't influence your ovulation patterns whatsoever. Best of luck.

There is a chance. Twins are passed through the women of the family.

Possible but don't worry yourself. My grandmother had twins and My husbands grandmother was a twin and I got pregnant twice, neither time did we have twins.

I think that stuff is passed on on the maternal side, so if your grandmother had twins, then yes, definitely a possibility.
