Try doing a resit GCSE course, they last a year dont they? In the grand scheme of your life, a year longer than you hoped is surely worth it if thats what you love doing.
I'd do anything to follow my dreams so maybe you have to question your commitment to this??

Sweetie, I know this is a giant problem to you but you've just given everyone a good lesson about not lousing up school because eventually you might need the courses you didn't pay much attention too later.

Can you go and redo that couse and up your grade?

If not , why not join some artist group and pefect your skills then apply again as a mature student , if you can.

At 18 I wanted to be a record producer, until I learned you had to have sciences and maths and have some musical aptitude like playing an instrument etc.

At 22 I had my degree in psychology/sociology and education. I subbed while working as a freelance journalist.

You'll eventually find what you want to do, just make sure it's something you love doing but in the meantime take jobs where you can gain experience and get an employment history and pursue that art course.

Apply to advertising agencies and elsewhere and see if they'll take you on as an intern or an apprentice.

You never know what may happen.

I don't know about the UK. but here in the U>S>A> you could go back to school and get a GED.. ( this is equivalent to graduating ) and then pursue art....My son is an artist, he also found out he could not support himself and a family on it He is now also a teacher. So you might want to consider more then one occupation. You did good making a list. now make another list not just what your good in, because with education , you could be good at many things. Make a list with what you really like to do ... you can put art at the top of that list if you love it...but what else do you love to do. Do you love to be outside or inside....??? OK lets say you said outside...then think of jobs that are outside that you would like to do.....get the picture? and your still young ... don't panic yet, Your on the right track, Your thinking is good. You know you didn"t do your best in school, but it sounds like your ready to do better now. I can tell your going to be just fine. You have a good head on your shoulders. Now start that next list....good luck and I'll pray for you.

Have patience and self belief. I did not concentrate at school and did low paid work for over 15 years, cause like you I felt I had wasted my time in school and so I did not have any other choices. I am now 33 years old, studying an access course and hopefully will realise my dream by going to uni in september. Don't give up, you will get where you want to be, it just might take longer than you thought it would. My other advice would be talk to carrer advisors I found them very helpful. Good luck.

Can you get close enough to a councilor to display some of your work. If you can impress the councilor perhaps s/he could take down a road block or two and you might even get to discuss it with the instructor.

I'm sure exceptions can and have been made. What you have to do is make yourself appear worthy of being one of those exceptions. Keep the pressure on the school even after they throw you out for the 10th time.

GOOD LUCK. I wish I could do more but I'm across the pond from you. California is a long way from the UK.

Hi you will find when you go to college the tutors will be very flexible. They will judge you on your interest in the subject and believe me they are there to help you and support you. It may be possible to redo your Art GCSE while doing the Art course. I returned to study and I biggest fear was my past but the Tutors soon put me right and told me they were interested in helping me with my future not my past. So return to college and if Art is your thing go for it

go and talk to a careers advisor, maybe try an art college, with portfolio work theres plenty of them! and see where it takes you!
dont worry about not knowing where you want to be, no one knows til there older, things change, people do all the time, so dont worry you'll find your footing sooner or later it doesnt matter!

i have one, if you dont understand why letters and the objects they represent must be based on some type of pattern, then how can you know why your art is yours, so if you know that that is the only thing any one can understand that that indivudual does then you also know that people will have to listen to what thye=ey hera you say,

i know the rest but im not the best

I agree. Best to get it done now than wait and wait and end up doing nothing and regretting it!
