I just got a new comp. with Windows Vista operating system..works good except no matter what I do it won't allow me to install ActiveX controls and it just so happens I WANT TO!! I've changed security settings, added it to the Trusted Websites list, checked to make sure I am using an Admin. account...everything suggested in the "help" menu! I'm almost ready to take it back to the store and ask for an older computer!! Any help is much appreciated.

Microsoft has yet to perfect the installer authentication processes for ActiveX in Vista... especially with many legacy applications.

Does it do this with all sites or some specific ones ?
I have Vista & trashed it ... went back to XP MCE.

Too many issues with Vista & the pretty pictures & new search engine just aren't worth all the bullcrap involved in running basic tasks with Vista.

Sorry ... wish I had better news for you.

If windows vista finds that activex control malware it won't install it even if you are the admin! I'm not saying this is a good thing, but it's how vista handles system security now...
Microsoft already delayed the release for Vista, for reason which I just can't understand... They delayed so long enough that they were forced to release the product at the time specified.. This is why I don't recommend to install it just yet... Wait for a couple of months until things get sorted out.. Meanwhile use XP with all shiny Vista theme :D.(because they are plenty available).

I told the other person today who bought a computer from Best Buy to get it back. His reply, "Good call, my man". Here Why!

Windows Vista isn't a good operation system when it come to problems like drivers and other things.

Microsoft have lied stating that they make Windows Vista a backward compatiablity. This cause misguided customer to oblivion. They will then found out that their softwares is not compatiable and were screwed.

Microsoft Programmer said that it 99.5% completes, does that make it right to sell a broken operation system?

If Windows Vista is still a beta then why are they being sold for over $100 - $1000. Beta version are for testing not to be used as a resale.

Beta still show that the operation system under testing but we computer users want a reliable LEAST instable operation system.

My question is ... is Beta version alway stable? The answer is NO!

Please take your computer back and tell the guy that sold you that you don't want Windows Vista. If you can't sell a computer with Windows XP then obviously your company have no credibility to sell to customer.

I continually tell human beings attempting to take a operating laptop or computer FROM vista TO XP is a poor theory. truly some the time those drivers gained't even exist because the parts themselves were in effortless words designed for Vista and the producer wasn't gonna provide a second idea to a now extinct OS that got here earlier it. human beings get frightened of the call "Vista" after seeing the Mac commercials and listening to about how "terrible" it really is and decide to pass operating decrease back to XP for yet another 2 years, yet regularly circumstances this a lot more suitable headache is all that comes out of it. I absolutely haven't to any extent further began to locate a operating laptop or computer producer it really is immediately ahead to artwork this procedure with, notwithstanding, quite a few human beings have advised me that taking the computer in to a technician regularly receives them underway lower back, by some "ingenious" installations and downloads. reliable success to ya.
