its not abselotely necessary as your milk will still contain the fatty acids found in fish oil even if you're not taking it as a supplement. The oil is nice though to stabilize moods, which can be especially important when you're postpartum. In general, the more nutrients a breastfeeding mom's diet has, the better she will feel and have an easier time with milk production. You can take the pills according to the package directions, or you can take a vegetarian form made from algae. As far as fish ( as a whole food)being good for breastfeeding, be careful that it doesn't have dangerously high levels of mercury in it. Look up mercury levels in fish to find out more. Any good high protein foods will do. Some fish oils availible commercially are molecullarly distilled to make them free of mercury, but I doubt I can say the brand because I'll get censored for solicitation. Do some research to find the best brands for yourself.

The omega 3 fatty acids are what make fish good for you. You don't need to eat fish to get those benefits. Nuts are rich in omega 3. So, if you don't like fish (and I don't either with a couple exceptions) eat nuts.

No its fine. You can find other ways to stay healthy when breastfeeding. Just think you want whats best for the baby don't feed yourself anything you wouldn't want to give them before the age of 2...ie mcdonalds, too much caffine stuff like that

Fish is good for you no doubt, but you don't need to take fish oil. You'll get the nutrition you need from your other foods & multivitamins.
