I know the logical answer to this is "Go ot the doctor" but I am really broke and can't afford it...
So I was wondering if you or somebody you know has had this problem, what caused it, and how worried should I be?
Thank you!

I have the same problem. But like you already know, you should go to the doctor. Depending on what state you live in, there may be a sort of medical assistance for you. It may take awhile to get signed up for it, but it would most likely pay past bills too. I would call a Planned Parenthood center and ask them if there is any assistance available.
If not, remember, that you usually don't have to pay the full amount up front. You can make payments on your bill.
If you aren't on any sort of birth control, you should concider it. It would regulate your period.

You should be VERY worried.
I had messed up periods that would sometimes last like 13-14 days.

Sorry, but your only option is going to the doctor. Maybe find a charity clinic or a place that has monthly payment program. You need to find out what is wrong. It could be just irregular periods that simple birthcontrol pills can fix to put your cycle back on track.Or, it could be something worse that could let to bad female problems, infertility.....lots of things.

If it continues to happen it should be checked out. As I got older, my periods got longer, heavier and more irregular. It is common in women in their later 30's and early 40's. but it can become a real nuisance at best and can cause you to become anemic at worst. You really do need to go to the gyno because you may have fibroids or polyps that are causing the bleeding. If nothing is obviously wrong, birth control pills can sometimes control it and get things back on track.

I have had a period that lasted 3 months. I was almost near menopause age and finally ended up needing a D&C. You really do have to see a doctor, there could be many reasons for your symptoms. How about a free clinic?

I know you don't want to go to the doctor. But hun, that's really serious. I don't mean to scare you, and I'm definitely NOT looking for a best answer or points here, but I'm concerned for your health. You say you can't afford it, but you NEED to see a doctor. Maybe your parents, firends, other family can help you? This really is a serious problem. Please, go see a doctor.

My wife suffered from adenomyosis which caused pain and excessive bleeding. That in itself was not life threatening. However the bleeding caused her to become anemic and she had to take iron pills.

However, no one can diagnose you via long distance and certainly not in this manner. We are talking about your health here. Call around for any community health centers in your area. They may be able to help you.
