Will homosexuals be more accepted in 20 years?

Actually, there were laws against interracial marriage right up until the 50s. After that, especially in southern states, it was still extremely difficult for a long time. In my opinion, interracial couples still face obstacles that make marriage extremely difficult.

Yes, I think that in 20 years more states will accept gay marriage. Before, homosexuality was frowned upon and many gay people lived in the closet. Now, the majority of people are okay with gay people even if they don't support gay marriage. It seems that in the 50s and early 60s interracial relationships were seen as an abomination and many were physically attacked. Now, if somebody has a problem with it they are branded a bigot. I think that in 20 or 30 years, we will see more tolerance for gay marriage and adoption. If somebody says anything negative about gay people, they will be also branded a bigot in 20 years. We are becoming more accepting and good for us. I know that by the time I'm 38, at least 85% of the states in the country will accept gay marriage.

For sure in the past interracial marriages were looked at unfavorably...just look at the racial history in this country....now it isn't considered unfavorable in many areas but not all. If you look even further into America's history you will see that about 100 years ago and more marrying someone of a different religion or ethnicity was looked upon unfavorably as well. I think when you talk about gay marriage, it will be more accepted 20 years from now....absolutely, but on the same token it will never yield a really high degree of favorability by the general public because inherently it isn't a natural relationship....takes a man and woman to produce a baby. I don't want to talk bad about gay marriage because I'm on the fence with the issue but wherever I land on the issue I don't think society as a whole will ever see it as the right thing for people to do.

Yes, there was a lot of difficulty with interracial marriage in the US - there still is in some parts of the country. And, yes, I think same-sex marriages will be more accepted in 20 years. They are more accepted today that they were 20 years ago (and I attended several that long ago).

People as a whole don't handle change well, especially when there isn't something "good" in it for them. Changes - like interracial marriage and same-sex marriage require us to think past the narrow boundaries of life we may have been taught.

See here is the thing, homosexuality is not the same as being black and wish people would stop comparing the two!!! Homosexuals were never enslaved, never segregated, never had a fire hose turned on them or dogs unleashed, never have been pulled over on the basis of being gay, or fitting the "gay description" I hate when people try to compare the two! People can live there lives as gay people without oppression if they want to, if they don't go telling people they are gay, minorities can't do that. If they want the legal benefits of marriage let them have their civil unions but don't redefine marriage so that they can have it too!

Yes, in the begining and i suppose it will be the same way in the end with gay marriages. But most people where taught that you marry a woman if your a man.
And you marry a man if you are a woman. I personaly dont see what a man sees in another man. I look at woman because they are like fine art. They where made for a man as well as a man was made for a woman. I can not even begine to imangine what a man could even offer another man. If everyone was gay how would mankind produce life? In 20 yrs i think it will be accepted. I dont agree with it but i think it will happen.

The being who created everything says that a man should be with a woman and a woman with a man, is why homosexuality is looked down upon. Interracial marriages are acceptable because the being that created all races are acceptable in his eyes. I don’t look down on people just stating the facts. =)

Many interracial couples may very well be against gay marraige.
Especially after what they had to go through to gain acceptance.

Marriage is for the protection of woman and children. This keeps the family together. If not for marriage men would breed with every woman they saw and leave them to raise the children alone to feed and care for. look at most single mother households! It is very hard with out a mommy and a daddy

It'll be a non-issue in 20-40 years. Scientists are closing in on finding the biological basis for homosexuality. Once this happens, they'll find some way of reversing it. How many parents, if given the chance, would have their children 'reversed' if they found out they might become homosexuals? My guess is all of them.
