I have a Toshiba Laptop with Windows XP. However, when i turn it on, it works perfectly but the screen is extremely dark and I can barely see my desktop. Why is it doing this?

Maybe your brightness is too low. To higher the brightness, here's what you do. With your computer on your desktop, keep the Fn key down while pressing F7. So, press Fn first, keep it down, and press F7. Each time you do that, the brightness will increase. To decrease the brightness, press Fn and F6. I have a Toshiba laptop as well, so it may be the same with your laptop. Do you see some gray pictures under the F1-F12 keys, or the function keys? Those pictures are used with the Fn, or function key. I believe that I solved your question.
