Marriage itself is not a horrible thing, per se. Its the people in the marriage that make it horrible. Its what they make of it that makes them miserable thus labeling their marriage as horrible. Just like society and our environment, they have become exactly what we have made them to be. So most "horrible" marriages are a result of self-destruction by the parties involved

Yes, marriage is horrible, frustrating, and destroys any sense of independence and happiness with life you ever had. It is an out-dated, antiquated tradition that is no longer necessary in today's world. I am sick of it. I've been married for over 20 years and it has taken a terrible toll on me. I used to be a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky guy, and now the energy and life has been sucked right out of me.

Here's my advice to those thinking of tying the knot: DON'T DO IT. Your wife/husband will weigh you down, waste all your money and boss you around and never let you see your parents again. Spouses are control-freaks.

no its not, its the people that get married and make it horrible by making choices of the wrong people, thinking marriage is going to change someone's bad habits, cheating because the honeymoon is over an reality sets in, so i think its the people not the institute of marriage and what it stands for...
