1. Insert CD, wait until it's icon shows up on your Desktop. Open System Preferences > Startup Disk > Choose the CD and Restart.
2. Insert CD, wait until it's icon shows up on your Desktop. Apple menu > Restart.... when startup chime starts to fade hold down the C key until you hear the CD ROM starts to read the CD.
3. Insert CD, wait until it's icon shows up on your Desktop. Apple menu > Restart... when the start up chime starts to fade hold down the Option key until you see start up icons. Choose the CD and click on the arrow.

If the above won't work then maybe the CD is not a bootable disc.

I presume you have a new world machine.I also presume you have a bootable cd drive with apple rom.Two ways to do this: insert cd into drive while computer is booted and then select that cd from the start-up disk menu in system preferences as the start-up disk. Or you can try a restart from the cd while in the drive by holding the C key until computer boots.Or shut down the computer with cd in drive and then start the computer while holding the C key.

Check the BIOS setting to boot the cd before the disk drive.

hi.

I had a similar problem trying to install Fedora Core.

I downloaded loadlin.exe and copied vmlinuz and intrd.img from the disk to the hard drive.

Then I followed the instructions on this page:
http://marc.herbert.free.fr/linux/win2linstall.html

Find the section for ubuntu...

I installed Fedora runing MS-DOS, I do not know if Mac has something equivalent??
