Everyone is going to have a different opinion on this. A lot of people will say yes, and a lot of people will say no. If you want to find out which one is better to you, go to a store that has both on display for demo purposes and play them both.

PS3 and Xbox 360 graphics are the same (check the link below for comparison shots between games on the 360 and PS3).

PS3 has fewer software titles. Many developers make PS3 games also for the Xbox 360 or cancel PS3 alltogether because of the poor sales.

The PS3 has no rumble support, and if you fancy the motion controller, get a Wii.

The Live-online part for the 360 is free as long as you don't want to play against other players. You can still manage your buddy lists, write messages or talk to them with a free Silver Membership.

The paid Live Gold-Membership is well worth the money. The Live system is a standard throughout all Xbox 360 games. On PS3 all game companies can (and probably will) write their own multiplayer service.
On the Xbox its like this:
You play the Game XYZ. Now the Xbox tells you with a small sign, that your buddy "CoolMcGamer" went online. While playing you can open the Dashboard and check what game he is playing. Lets say he's playing ABC and you want to play with him.
So you know what game to take from the shelf and you can join right into the match with him.

On the PS3 you play XYZ and you will only see online players of XYZ.

Then the BlueRay thing. The format War between BlueRay and HD DVD is a tough one and shops hate to have movies occupy twice the space (one for HD DVD and one for BlueRay).
Just in case HD DVD wins, you can put the PS3 right next to the Betamax VCR in the cellar or use it as a nice doorstop.
If the BlueRay wins, Microsoft can (and probably will) produce a Blue Ray add on Drive. And if you really don't care about High Definition Movies, well then you have saved your money for either drives on the Xbox.
On the PS3 you *have* to buy the BlueRay price.

And if you fancy the media stuff: Have the Xbox connect to your Windows XP or Vista PC via your network. You can play MP3s, Movies, photos and (if you have a Media Center version of Windows) even regular and recorded TV shows thruogh the Xbox.
You can even let your MP3s play during a game instead of the original game music.

And finally regarding 1080p:
Only a handful of TV's support 1080p. Even fewer are in the peoples homes. So there is not much incentive for a game maker to pay extra for making a game 1080p.
Furthermore, 1080p is limited to 30 frames per second. So a fast paced shooter will not be as playable as a game running with 60 frames per second.
However, Microsoft has recently updated the Xbox through a free online update, so the Xbox can now display 1080p, too.
A coming Tennis game by SEGA will use the 1080p output on the Xbox 360.

We have tested and accepted reviews on all three systems. As far as graphics are concerned the xbox 360 and PS3 capable of 1080p are both similar since the xbox has recently released a 1080i update allowing the 360 to display full 1080i on 1080i capable t.vs. Prior to this update the 360 couldn't go 1080i.

Playstation 3 does offer more out off the box than Xbox 360, and the PS3 network is free to owners of the PS3.
# PS3 premium-60 gig
# Blue Ray
# True 1080p HiDef
# PSP game share
# The internal 60 gig hard drive- capable of storing Ps2 memorycard game saves, photo, movies, music etc…
# Ability to hook up external hard drives, and jump drives- and transfer music, photos, videos, etc……. Playstation 3 Solutions
# Key board and mouse abilities
# Surf anywhere on the net like any computer (PS3 Has it's own web browser)
#
# Play games- Resistance Fall of Man- Motostorm(out in march)
# Play all the Ps2 games if you have ps2

Xbox 360 Premium-
# 20 gig hard drive
# Xbox live has fees but is great fun and has a large community
# Has awesome Great game titles and exclusives
# 1080i update available- but not blue Ray
# No web Browser for internet browsing yet but a new updated version of the xbox will be out this summer so maybe…..
# Xbox 360 currently has more games available and Halo 3 is soon to be released.

All offer WiFI connection to the internet but the Xbox needs the purchase of extra hardware to do so.

If you're not really into any game in particular for either console, go with the PS3; difference in price is only 200 bucks and you get a built-in Blue-Ray dvd player which retails for $600 alone. The external HD player for the 360 is 200 bucks which makes it pair up with the PS3 in price. But then again, Blue-Ray will deliver 1080p while HD dvds hits 720p. So when it comes down to movies and gaming the PS3 steps right up. Also unlike the 360, you don't have to pay a subscription fee to play online with the PS3. But that's up to you bud. :)

wait to see the sixaxis is good and the traditional playstation controller(being much better feeling than a 360 controller(although its much improved from the terrible Xbox controller. but i like my PS3 more than my xbox 360 because the playstation controller is great and resistance is great plus the PS3 improves the graphical quality of PS2 and PS1 games. Which is the reason I play my old PS2 games for it making the PS2 games have as good or greater than graphics than an Xbox 360.

There are pros & cons to both systems. Here is overview in regards to the systems:

PS3
Pros:
1. Latest Technology - Amazing Graphics;
2. Free online play (when it is available);
3. Blu-ray Technology for a great price

Cons:
1. Very Expensive (Up to $600.00 not including any HD Cables or Video Games);
2. It is going to take about a year to work out the bugs (The PS3 has backwards compatability issues - up to 200 PS2 titles don't work);
3. It will take about 1 year before you will starting seeing some really good game titles (See #6);
4. Lack of Tech Support. If there are any problems you will be paying the bill about $200.00;
5. Blu-ray takes up more space on the hardrive (4 times compared to regular format);
6. Since of the new technology programmers lack the training in developing PS3 games to maxmize the new technology;
7. Video Games prices will be higher about $10.00 to $20.00 more than your typical standard price of $49.95 to $59.00
8. To get the the amazing graphics you will need an HD TV (It will work on a standard TV but not as good)

Xbox 360:
Pros:
1. Good Price ($400.00 for Premium System)
2. Amazing Graphics
3. Great Online Service - Xbox live;
4. Has some awesome game titles (ie: Gears of War, Too Human, Halo 3)
5. Bugs have already been worked out (ie: Most Xbox games can be played on the Xbox 360; therefore, very few backwards compatability issues)

Cons:
1. You will need to purchase HD DVD Player to play HD DVDs which is about $150.00
2. Xbox Live Gold Membership is about $50.00/Yr
3. Xbox 360 hardward can get overheated and cause problems (This of course doesn't happen on a regular basis, and you will need to purchase a cooling fan system (for about $15.00 to $25.00) to prevent overheating problems)
4. To get the the amazing graphics you will need an HD TV (It will work on a standard TV but not as good)

Also you need to realise that when you look at the two systems and compare the graphics of each system your naked eye cannot tell the difference of which is the better system. Gamespot.com had an article with a back to back look at the graphic of both systems with images.

So you need to ask youself three questions:

1. Does it fit my budget;
2. What games do I like to play and what game titles are/or will be available;
3. What is the best bang for your buck (ie: Paying $600.00 for the latest Technology but lacking the games and support...etc)

I myself have a PS2 (which I love) and I also have Xbox 360. I do want to get PS3 but for reasons I mention above it is not the right time.

I hope this helps you.

Of course the PS3 is better than the 360. More HDD, better processor, BLU-RAY.
$600 isn't cheap, but consider this...the PS3 has a blu-ray player, standalong players cost $800+. and you still have the uber fast Cell processor that operates at supercomputer like speeds.
