There is a new medicine out called Vaniqa that keeps the hair from growing back. Waxing is the best method of hair removal. It will grow back slower and thinner.

Your friend's problem might be genetic or medical. If other women in her family also have this problem then it's normal for her to have it too BUT if nobody does she might be having hormonal in-balances. There are medications to help alleviate excess hair growth either way. She REALLY should see a doctor about this. Many cultures produce hairy women and it's actually accepted and sought after considering it a sign of beauty! In the meantime only a doctor can diagnose and treat.

She may have a hormonal condition. Best see an Endocrinologist who might be able to adjust her hormonal balance after test. Otherwise there might be ways to electrolytically remove the excessive growths permanently. But the procedure costs.
If it is any consolation there are some cultures which consider hirsutism in females sexually exciting and highly desirable.

Primary hirsutism can be treated mechanically. Mechanical treatment involves bleaching or physically removing unwanted hair by:
cutting
electrolysis
shaving
tweezing
waxing
using hair-removing creams (depilatories)
Low-dose dexamethasone (a synthetic adrenocortical steroid), birth-control pills, or medications that suppress male hormones (for example, spironolactone) may be prescribed for patients whose condition stems from high androgen levels.
Treatment of secondary hirsutism is determined by the underlying cause of the condition.
She can read up on her condition at this link

All women produce small amounts of testosterone from their adrenal glands. An endocrinologist can determine if her testosterone level is too high (leading to hirsutism and increased acne.) There are medications to interrupt the testosterone production.

Poor thing I would say electrolysis would be the answer as eventually the hair wont grow back again.. It will take quite a long time to sort but as I said it will work in the end...

She should see a dr., if it is that upsetting. She needs to be evaluated for endocrine disorders. There are medications that will help. Spironolactone is one. Over the counter measures won't help, if it is widespread.

It is a hormone out of balance problem...she needs to see a doctor or a nutritionist to get help. A nutritionist will probably give her natural hormones and determine if there are any other imbalances in her system...
A doctor will give her artificial hormones....and approach it a little differently. ...but she needs to get help.
