17 years. You can see a paediatrician up to the age of 16. In England.

You know, I just asked myself that question--when I brought my 16-yr-old daughter to the emergency room--and they made us go to the pediatric emergency room. I couldn't believe it! They said that anyone under the age of 18 had to be seen in the pediatric ER.

My older kids were through with pediatricians soon after starting elementary school. The pediatricians were basically for childhood illnesses, immunizations, etc. They began seeing the "family physician" around when they entered school.

It seems quite strange, when children of 13 are pregnant these days, that they would be expected to see a pediatrician. Also, STDs are not uncommon in people under the age of 18--so I really don't know what gives...

As long as you're below 21 years of age, you can see a pediatrician. Check out this government site: http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/ode/guidance/1208.html
