in their prime
C- Ivan Rodriguez, Johnny bench close second but Rodriguez has more gold gloves and better batting average
1st-Lou Gehrig, leads first basemen inobp, slg, rbi's, and runs
2nd- Rogers Hornsby, leads in obp, slg, avg
3rd-George Brett, towards top in all categories for 3rd baseman
SS-Honus Wagner, tops in 5 of 8 major categories
CF- Ty Cobb, no one close in batting average and only Willie Mays close in runs and rbi's
LF-Ted Williams, would lead in every hitting category if not for 2 tours of duty in armed forces
RF-Babe Ruth, close second to hank arron
SP-Sandy Koufax, almost unhittable in his prime
RP-Dennis Eckersley, 5th on all time saves list despite only being a reliever for 11 of his seasons played
this is based solely on hitting for the everyone but pitchers because gold gloves werent given out till 1957 and not all the fielding statistics that are kept track of today were kept in the earlier years
