and moreover, why do they still think that they can alienate themselves from America and not concern themselves with the day to day affairs of this country?
do they not think that they are living on American soil?
is their religious belief so pure that they need to be completely separate from everyone else to the extent that many do not have social security numbers?
come on, they aren't indians, its not like they were here first. at least they have an excuse.

Now to all you that said that I was a bigot, or racist, listen. I am NOT being racist against them. I know they are American, I just don't understand why they aren't held to the same crappy standard the rest of us freedom loving Americans are? Should we tell the blacks they don't have to work because they were slaves once? No! Should we tell the Indians they don't have to bathe everyday because we took their land from them? No! I wasn't makign fun of Indians when I said they had an excuse, I'm pretty sure i said...oh yeah, THEY HAVE AN EXCUSE. You people need to get a life and answer my god dam-ned question!

The whole concept behind being Amish is to alienate others. Oh, I'm sorry...we better use the word "shun" so that we can act like we're better than everyone.
They alienate every person who does not have a big fluffy beard, and then they "shun" their own people when they try and think for themselves.
In all reality, I don't think they know they live in the United States. They don't have google earth to tell them where they live!They are immune from all duties of being Americans...they are worse than Mexicans! At least mexicans rent other people's property, so that their money goes back into society. They spend all their money on booz, and white t-shirts.
Regarding social security numbers...I think we need to treat them the same way we treat illegals. We need to kick them out and put them back where they came from. In this case, they came out of my a-ss, so we'll dump them down in Australia.

The scent of the Amish is only because, they live all natural, so it is natural to stink. Because, gossip is unnecessary in life. If it is what a person chooses to believe, then it is not all necessary to have social security numbers. They are after all taking money from the youth and giving to the old, which they may not have a need for social security numbers either. And don't be so racist towards Native Americans, ignorance shouldn't be a point of view.

I don't know anything about Amish people but I resent the comment made by Mr Premier insinuating that Australia is an A R S E HOLE of a place. it's much safer to live in Australia than in America thank you very much.

It's their religion to refrain from modern anything. Including modern soap sadly; don't judge. And Amish people aren’t the only ones who alienate themselves. What about those people who sit on the couch all day and watch T.V and eat junk food and waste their lives on myspace. They're just as alienated as the Amish, but have a less creditable reason. And since this is America, people have the right to practice any faith.
