Learn to live with it, because it never STOPS!?!?!?!?!?! OR get your own t.v.! Good luck and remember to put the frying pan down when he makes you mad, because it is not worth the night in jail!

You don't. This seems to be wired into most men's (and some women's) brains. There's no way to stop it!!

I asked my husband and son WHY they do this - the answers were "what if I'm missing something better" and "I don't know what I want to watch, so I'll just go through the channels - but if it can't grab my interest in the first 3 seconds, it's not worth it - on to the next channel"
They both said looking at the guide just isn't the same - the name of the show doesn't always give a good idea of what it is.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got when I became an adult, was to always ask yourself:
Whose problem is it? If it's yours, do something about it. If it's someone else's, leave it with them and stop obsessing about it.

In this case, the problem is yours. He's quite comfortable with his behavior. You're not. Your question, rather than "how do I stop him" should be "How can I cope with". In my case, I get up and leave the room.

You can't control someone else's actions. You can only control your REaction. Change your reaction.

Get TiVo service. Teach him how to record shows he wants to see and then fast forward through the commercials. No reason to flip.

How about discussing like adults how that bothers you. And explaining without accusing why it bothers you. Pulling the batteries is the equivilant of taking the ball and going home.

lol...now i understand why you didnt put the whole question up there. Just tell him to stop. Tell him to watch the TV guide channel until he's sure of what he wants to watch..THEN turn to it. End of problem..
