I was by the beach two summers ago and saw a woman in her ninth month smoking. I was horrified and wanted to say something but didn't think she would listen.

Smoking can cause underweight babies. Also.. I've seen it first hand working in a hospital. When complications arise.. and the doctor needs to get a line in the baby.. they have a VERY HARD time doing it because the babies blood vessels are constricted from the mom smoking! Some babies come out ok.. but I think its very selfish for the mom to continue to smoke and the baby has no say so!

Years ago mums to be were advised to smoke during pregnancy to guarantee the baby would be small and easier to give birth to. F*****g sick or what?
I'm glad I NEVER started smoking, I'm watching my mother (who smoked for 51 years) struggle to breathe every day, she has COPD and she smoked while carrying both me and my sister.
I was a small baby at birth.

Smoking is trashy but smoking while pregnant is horrific! They need to be locked up.
You can't convince a smoker that smoking is bad for them- they can have a cancerous lung and argue with you about it wasn't due to smoking.

Ok, my mother smoked with me and I am 27 years old, and I am normal height, no breathing problems, graudated national honor society, and hardly ever get sick, not overweight, no health issues of any kind. so how exactly did my mother's smoking affect me?
Added note, I was one of those moms who occasionally smoked while prego and my son was 8lbs 5 ozs at birth, no breathing problems, no health problems, and is on schedule with all his development. So until you want to start paying child support for my son, stop telling me what I can and can't do.

Why not mind your own business? People always do things others don't agree with but that's life. I don't think it's appropriate for women to have children with different fathers. I also don't go around calling someone a whore if they do. Worry about your own life before judging other people.

Hard to imagine, isn't it.
Makes you wonder how much consideration the child will get growing up.
