Both men are preachers - by training and in function.

Both men pretend to know what is best for the rest of us.

Both men spend their days trying to tell the rest of us what to do.

Both men claim that in doing so they seek to "save the world" - both indeed speak in apocryphal terms.

Neither man is satisfied with the right to get up on his stump and try to convince people to voluntarily change their ways - both want to use government to force you to change your ways.

Both men have a holier-than-thou attitude - just with different definitions of what constitutes holiness.

Both men can line up people who agree with them - but neither can provide any actual, tangible proof that the behaviors they seek to limit are in fact hastening doomsday.

Both men have been wrong so often you wonder why anyone gives either man any credence.

Why do some of us try to draw distinctions among the various behaviors that control freaks seek to curtail? Either we're free or we're not!

Didn't Al Gore invent Pat Robertson?

2007-02-28 12:13:19 · answer #1 · answered by Kevin A 6 · 2 1

Yes Al Gore is better than Pat Robertson, despite all the simplified parallels you draw between the two. Al Gore believes that what he says is true and he is genuinely trying to help people. Even if he is dead wrong about everything he is saying, his heart is in the right place.

Pat Robertson does not believe a single word that comes out of his own mouth. He's performing for the stupid trailer park trash, just like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. He's putting on a big show and taking money from people who can't really afford to give it to him. He has no one's interests at heart save his own.

That's a great question.

I would have to say that Al Gore ( I invented the internet, $3000 electricity bill) is more respectable than Wacky Pat.

Al Gore comes off to me as a less than honest man. He comes off as deceiving and manipulative. Pat Robertson, while I dislike his tactics, I feel is a sincere Christian who feels he's doing what God has called him to do. I don't think he's doing the right thing by focusing on God's wrath. He would be much more fruitful and productive by teaching salvation rather than damnation.

Hardly. Al Gore is a hypocrite. Pat Robertson believes in what he preaches.

I just want to focus on this one statement...

Neither man is satisfied with the right to get up on his stump and try to convince people to voluntarily change their ways - both want to use government to force you to change your ways.

you obviously havent seen gore's movie, or been to his website. it is filled with information (at the end of the movie) that shows what YOU can do to cut down on your emissions. yes, he thinks government should do something, but he also understands who we have in power and shows very simple, cheap ways that the average person can cut down on their power.

i also have a problem with your claim that he does not provide any proof of what is going on. how many more scientist and global summits need to be held before you face that fact? this is not al gore's creation, he just tells the story. i guess the proof that you are looking for is for the world's sea level to rise about 25 feet. will that be enough proof for you? why dont we do something to prevent that from happening? just little stuff. even if everybody is wrong, we only bettered our world and probably saved some money (look up florescent bulbs to see how much you can save.) if everybody is right, we prevented a catastrophe.

Gore is off the scale on the left and Pat is off the scale on the right.

Al Gore is a billion times more respectable. Let's not forget he was a vice-president, and a little thing called The Inconvenient Truth.
