The restore points are gone... sorry.

You do have a few options, though.

Backup your info / pictures / etc onto CD before you lose it too.

You can either suffer through the slow melt-down that XP does every 6 months - 2 years. Your computer may become unusable after a while.

Or

Look to see if you have a partition (a second hard drive that's actually just part of the one you have) you may have a backup partition.
Using this partition will wipe your computer - BACK UP YOUR STUFF!
When you're rebooting, tap F8 (it's a key along the top of your keyboard) to get into the system restore program (it's from your partition). This will "return your computer to original manufacturer's settings" aka wipe and re-put Windows and other programs that were on your computer when you got it.

Or

You can get / buy a copy of XP, a copy of all the programs you use (MS Office, etc) and end up wishing you just bought a new computer.

Or

Buy a new computer and find a way to move over your files.

Or

You can try a new operating system for a while - without touching your hard drive.
I did this when my XP was being crankier than a toddler on caffeine and I had important stuff to do. What did I use? Ubuntu, but if you like the look / feel of XP you'll probably like Kubuntu.
How does it work?
Well, it runs off the CD and loads a complete operating system (and programs!) into your RAM - not touching your hard drive at all. This is called a "LiveCD".
The programs included are OpenOffice (office), Firefox (web surfing), Evolution or Thunderbird (e-mail), GAIM (instant messaging) and lots of others. It's also free.

After a while of using Ubuntu for a few hours a day, I decided to actually put it on my computer. About a month after that... I'm spending 80 - 90% of my time in Ubuntu because it has everything I need.
The 10% is going into XP to play Black & White, so XP's like a game console to me instead of a computer.

If you dont have a restore disk or the windows disk and deleted restore points then your screwed unless you can borrow a windows disk from someone. Then you can do a repair install. I'm assuming your pc has problems but if not you can create a new restore point. you did'nt give much details like what os you have etc...
