I like more of the magic or fantasy side of books. But NOT Harry Potter or Eragon! I loved Artemis Fowl, the Dragon Keeper, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, and the Inkheart Trilogy. If it's not magic, then I like stuff like the Shadow Children series or the Wish List (by Eoin Colfer) are great! The Series of Unfortanate Events are OK. Also, is Jonathan Stroud's "The Last Siege" a good book? Now that you know my book style, can anybody help me? Thanks for all your help!

(NO DRAGON REALTED BOOKS PLEASE!)

"The Stolen Child" by Keith Donohue. A boy is kidnapped by changelings who live in the woods - strange fairy tale with hobgoblins, fairies, changelings - and a wonderful story line.

Will try to give some ideas, try the Neuromancer by william gibson. Of course the Lord of the Rings is a must read. The Narnia books are short in themselves, but it is a series.
If you can find it, one of the best series I've read is by Michael Moorcock, a series of 3 books, Dancers of the End of time, not sure if that is one of the books or the name of the series, it's been awhile since I read it, but I did just buy it again as a re-isssue with all three books included. Also, anything by Issac Asimov is a sure winner.
Hope some of this is of help.

Try reading 'The Wrinkle in Time' books by Madelaine L'Engle ... and also the 'Narnia' stories by C.S. Lewis and 'The Hobbit' and the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkein. These are all 'really good fantasy' books, that also can be read as 'allegory' (stories about 'religion' and our relationship with God) ... but that shouldn't stop you from 'just enjoying' them as the 'stories' they are, because they are all told 'really, really well.' And why don't you try 'writing' some 'fantasy' of your own ... you may not 'be able to do it' at first, but don't stop TRYING ... because if you love to read as much as it is obvious you do, you have it in you to 'write' the same sort of thing ... and even if you don't become a 'professional writer' when you grow up, you'll 'learn a lot' about the language from 'writing' ... and that can only be A GOOD THING when you are a 'grown up.'

T.A. Baron and Lloyd Alexander are great fantasy authors. If you like Eoin Colfer then read The Supernaturalist, its my all time favorite book, or Half Moon Investigations.

Try "The Talisman"
It was co-written by Stephen King and Peter Straub, about parallel worlds.

Piers Anthony has a whole series--the Xanth books--of comedy/fantasy books, check those out, too. They're loaded with puns & inside jokes.

Read the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett.

They're fantasy, but hilarious!
