Honey, I could write a book on my mother-in-law! She was horrible (I say WAS because we no longer speak). Anyway, I used to get so mad at her and complain to my husband, who would then get mad at me about being too hard on his mom. She was so jealous of me she went as far as to blame me for ripping her son away from his brother and her and turning him against his family and calling me a b**** in front of my daughter and yelling that I stole her grandkids! What I found out worked best was to just lay low and play nice. I don' t mean take her crap. I know it's hard, but it's worth it in the end. When she makes you mad, confront her, not your husband. If you ever think your husband doesn't care, think how hard it would be for him to confront his mother about it. If she's that jealous, he's probably been a momma's boy too long and he will feel a close relationship with her. It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that it's hard and men tend to avoid things that are emotionally upsetting. Am I right or am I right? Try talking to her on her own, and talk to her like an adult. Anyway, when you leave him out of it and just confront her (do it respectfully so she doesn't have a reason to accuse you of being mean). She'll nag him for sure, and you'll be leaving him out of it, which is what he wants, and you'll come out smelling like a rose. She'll dig her own hole and fall into it on her face. Trust me.

She is just concerned about her son's happiness. Treat her son like a king, and invite her out often. Show her that you and her son, are a happy unit, and invite her along on vacation. You might want to get her involved in a pottery or art class of some sort with you, so that she can meet other people, and have something else to occupy her thoughts..

Look instead of treating her as an in law treat her as if she was your mother, hard to do i know.
Talk to her ask her opion on things, once she thinks you need her and showing respect, her out look will change its worth a try,
Not worth the hassle of fighting all the time.

Sounds like she can't get the apron string off her little man's neck. I say if your man can't settle the problem, steer clear of her. She's cancer to a healthy relationship if no one does anything.

Tell your husband to have a talk with her about it. If he wont or that doesnt work stay away from her as much as possible.

You shouldn't do anything. If she is jealous that is her problem and she needs to deal with it. If it becomes a problem with you and she starts treating you badly, you need to discuss it with your husband.

Ok, why is she jealous? Just try to be humble and eat some humble pie.
