What exactly would my college major be? How long will it take before I can work? I'm a good student (Straight A's) I'm a high school senior. And I'm sharp underpressure. My dad doesn't seem to think I can do it, because I'm "To stupid and clumsy" to become a surgeon. Which is totally not true. I was the salutitorian for cryin out loud! Which do you think is better? Neurology or cardiology? (Heart or brain?). It's weird...I'm actually working as a 1st grade teacher lol

You can't just be a good student and be a GOOD surgeon. Your heart has to be in the job and you have to do what you love and not because of the money or to prove your dad wrong. You will need to basically have a 4.0 GPA in very hard science, math classes in college. Go to medical school and practice doing surgery after med school or about 10 years. Do the math...maybe 20+ years before you get to be on your own in that OR.

Good luck. Research more before you decide. You will have to give a lot of your life to your profession even before you practice.

Your college major can be whatever you want it to be. Med schools don't care what it is, as long as you fulfill all the prereq requirements. Many pick a science major for a variety of reasons. Some think it prepares them better for med school. Some do it because it's easier to get into many of the prereq classes. More and more med students don't have a traditional hard science major though because med schools are pushing the "well rounded" bit right now.

Just worry about getting into med school. You'll have plenty of time then to figure out whether you like the brain or heart more. You really don't pick until towards the end of med school when you apply for a surgical residency.

sure, all heart surgeons are technically educated to do transplants, notwithstanding it relies upon on even if the wellbeing facility that they are affiliated with have a transplant software. As for the adaptation between strict "heart" and CTsurgery, CT surgeons also do aortic aneurysms, lung resections, lung surgical procedures, probable lung transplants (lower back, if the wellbeing facility has a software for lung transplants).

Pre-med. Then you need to go to med school. After that you can specialize.
