I live by the sea in Stranraer, Scotland.
I got washed into the sea fishing from some rocks off Lairds point when one of the passing ferries caused a huge wave. If my foot hadn't snagged in a crevise i would have been a goner.
Everytime i go near the sea now i tense up just thinking about that day.
Even when i'm standing on the beach.
I dont even let my kids go to near now.

oh yes. oh yes. I live beside the sea.The beach is at the end of my road. At night when the traffic has died down, I can hear the waves if I open the window. I love it when it's windy and stormy, I go down to the beach and watch and listen. i love it when it's calm and sunny and warm, and I can paddle my feet.
I went for a swim in it this year on boxing day; yes, a form of lunacy. I believe that the closer you live to the sea, the saner you are! And I think the sea keeps me sane.

Yes it does. I heard an article on the radio ( The Tommy Boyd Show I think ) a few years ago that the reason why it is so soothing it that it sounds like the noise of blood going through your mother when you are in the womb. It is also the noise a person makes to sooth a crying baby.. shhhhhh sshhhhh shhhhhhhh.

Not the sea itself but listening to the sound of the waves crash against the shore is soothing. Running your fingers along the sand as well. I love to swim so it's like an alternative to earth, being in the water.

Yes, it makes me feel wonderful just to look at it. I'm lucky that I live near the sea (4 miles away) and can go and see it whenever I like.

Someone once said that no-one ever goes to the sea and then sits on a deckchair with their back to it. It's true!

Yes
The gentle lashing of the waves is very calming.
Not just the sea though.
I bought a house by a stretch of water because of its calming effect.

Soothes me all the time - I live by the coast and could never imagine being anywhere else - no matter what the weather there is always something to see. Big waves are the best

Yes totally, I feel so content. Last year I was in Turkey and swam everyday and I really did miss it when I got home.

Hi!

Oh, yeah!!

One of my favourite beaches in the UK is Carbis Bay in St Ives, Cornwall.

When I'm there, I'm in another world.

I could just sit there all day, it doesn't matter what the weather is like, and watch and listen to the waves rolling in and out.

I was down there this weekend and it was GLORIOUS!!
