"Braap" is a compliment in urban circles, acrediting the person it's aimed at with status.
The sound is onomatopoeic, relating to a gunshot. This comes from circles where firearms are equated with power and status.

All wrong. It started as the sound (braaaapppp) of a dirtbike revving in Motocross. It then was used for the same sound, snowmobile.racing.
Does a gunshot go "braap"?
