Hey I moved from Cincinnati to San Diego with my '98 Ford Escort. During the drive my check engine light came on.As I had it smogged in San Diego my emissions passed but t hey failed me because I had a check engine light on. I had to pay like 50 bucks to get it fixed and they gave me my smog certificate.

It depends on what year the car is, what kind of shape it's in. I moved to CA from NC with 2 cars, my 2001 passed but by 91 didn't. If you have a serious exhaust leak, get it fixed before going. A lot of after market upgrades can cause it not to pass too.

sure you'll pas Cal criteria. maximum vehicles bought after 2000 will. Do you imagine that really everyone who strikes to California has to purchase a clean vehicle? The California criteria the position for vehicles bought interior the state. If the vehicle is used the state can no longer save it out. you would haven't any problem.

How old is the car? I brought my 2000 Ford from PA to CA and it passed the test.

Look under the hood and see if there is a sticker that says EPA approved for CA. What year is it? Call CA DMV.
