The sun.Unequal heating of the earth(due to many local factors) by the sun causes temperature differance between two places which in turn causes pressure differences. These pressure differance between the two places causes pressure systems (low and high pressure systems) which induce the movement of air. Thus wind starts blowing from high to low pressure area.

Regions of high pressure and low pressure are caused by the sun heating up the air. Naturally air from high pressure regions flow to low pressure ones, creating wind.

Heating from the sun and the rotation of the earth (Coriolis force) primary causes wind. (They drive the other features mentioned by other members (except the beans that is.).)
