I have no problem with "think-tanks" scrutinizing Al Gore, but (a) for The Tennessee Center for Policy Research to call itself an independent and nonpartisan organization is laughable and (b) if they want to maintain that facade, try getting the full story at least.
Do you suppose that they are equally up in arms by the fact that taxpayers are paying Dick Cheney's electric bill at the Vice President's mansion? You know, the one that had an $186,000 electric bill in 2001? Nah, that probably doesn't bother them in the least.)
Instead, it's this same crap, again and again and again. There's a speech on global warming, and it's cold outside! Don't debate John Kerry's plans for Iraq, question his medals from Vietnam. It's not the war that's going badly, it's some freelance photographer for the AP who has a cousin that's an insurgent. Who cares whether Israel's assault on Hezbollah made the problems in the Middle East worse, when there's a picture with too much smoke. A serious debate on issues in Congress? Look, up in the sky, it's Nancy Pelosi's plane -- what was that all about?
What does any of this trivial BS have to do with the things that need to be debated in 2007, like our future policy in the Middle East, or reducing our dependence on fossil fuels? Has the conservative movement in this country really become this bankrupt, intellectually and morally? Even this liberal finds that very discouraging.
this was a cut and paste so don't accuse me of plagarism

That depends . . . will you, like Gore, pay a premium for the energy you consume in order to support green energy sources? Will you also, like Gore, pay for carbon offsets? Will you, like Gore, drive a hybrid?
1) Gore’s family has taken numerous steps to reduce the carbon footprint of their private residence, including signing up for 100 percent green power through Green Power Switch, installing solar panels, and using compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy saving technology.
2) Gore has had a consistent position of purchasing carbon offsets to offset the family’s carbon footprint — a concept the right-wing fails to understand. Gore’s office explains:
What Mr. Gore has asked is that every family calculate their carbon footprint and try to reduce it as much as possible. Once they have done so, he then advocates that they purchase offsets, as the Gore’s do, to bring their footprint down to zero.
The Tennessean elaborates, "Gore purchased 108 blocks of 'green power' for at least each of the last three months, according to a summary of bills from Nashville Electric Service. . . The green power purchased by Gore in those three months is equivalent to recycling 2.48 million aluminum cans, or recycling 286,092 pounds of newspaper, according to comparison figures on the utility's Web site."
If you actually emulate the Gore's, you will be following a good example. But you kind of come across as someone too thick to manage that.

Yes, you can indulge all you want as long as you pay back with your carbon offsets like Al does (plant a few dozen trees for example). You also have to tell those not as fortunate as you that THEY must conserve energy so you can use the unused portion of their "carbon footprint."
Al's Truth: WE conserve, he uses and does his penance by buying offsets like commodities. Al Gore is not "giving up" anything.

Yes but you have to remember to open your wallet and buy carbon offsets. Then that will make everything O.K. and you will be a hero just like Al Gore.

Absolutely, but only if you develop a "carbon neutral footprint" by purchasing green energy credits from your local utility company! (Note: You can wait a few years do do the latter. Al is only getting to it now and he has been eco-friendly for over three decades)

Where too much energy is being spent is on conservative hate radio where they seem obcessed by Al Gore's power bill. I'll bet their radio station transmitter takes more energy than Al Gore's house. Al's energy is going to good use the radio people are wasting it on hate broadcasting.
You can join Al Gore in saving energy by turning off your computer and not turning it back on for a month or so.

Well, you would have to get so large they need to fly you around in a C5, and you would have to agree to talk like a government voice-mail system. Next, go have every third joint in your body fused so you can move like a stick man. Then you'll have to go find a woman who looks like tipper, and hang around with michael moore (be sure to carry some ozone friendly disinfectant spray with you).

Well, then, you'll have to commit to converting your home to include solar panels and more energy-efficient fuel sources, like he's doing.
