i have problems like this constantly :) what you use is a program called reg-cleaner its a free program and it will allow you to delete any programs off you registry. Its great, highly recommended for this kind of problem

The icon can be removed by right -hand clicking.
The tool bar in the start menu can be removed from tool bar options (customize).

A restart should also remove all the components for good.

Also ensure that while in control panel, add / remove, that you have the show updates box (near the top) ticked and look again.

Also do a manual search through your hard drive "c" via my computer, and delete the Google file.
