Okay I'm not asking you guys to care about me but anyway.
I'm 15 years old, living in Cyprus. I'm half Korean and Cypriot.
When I used to be in junior school, kids used to tell me I'm Chinese and hated me for, well, having those eyes. This continued until today but in much fewer situations. The thing is, I was sensitive about this matter and still am and slowly and subconciously i started developing this complex that all Asians are Chinese and they are not equal to any other people including me. I believe that I'm not worth living and don't deserve to ask for stuff. It grew in me. I have the lowest confidence a person could have and If I even try to think that I am equal I end up fooling myself and saying that I'm Chinese and I'm disgusting and not human. I am indeed disgusted by my body's features and I believe this blood I carry is cursed.. And i just ... feel fine about it. What am I doing? Am I wrong to hate myself? And are Asians equal to other people or is it just lies?
Thanks.

Do NOT let ignorant peoples words determine who you think you are.

Firstly, living in a country like Cyprus - not a good history of being accepting- you need to be especially aware of that.

My wife is half Chinese, and as she said, schoolkids would say horrid things, but they also said horrid things to the fat kid, the kid with glasses or anyone who was not homogenous. I used to get picked on because my name is Raoul, not Tom, Bob or John.

As for your blood - you are part of the race that will influence the world more than any other this century.

Celebrate your individuality. It makes me proud that my son is part Asian, not only does he have such an incredible history to draw on, but he is more connected to all the people of the world than I am.

School sucks for the petty mindedness that reigns in it. But when you get out into the wider world, one day you find that the people that fitted in so well at school often don't become anything great - they were only big fish in a small pond, nothing more.

Remember, other peoples words are not reality.

If you live around ppl that are different to yourself you started questioning yours elf and wanting to be like them. When I was at school I was the only-Black kid along with my twins sister we used to get it all the time. Like i recall once the whole class had made chocolate cake and i was eating mine in the playground and some kid come up to me and said your eating **** just like yourself. After that I really wanted to be White some ppl couldn't say that about me. I leaned history about how Strong my ppl are and now I'm proud to be who i am and would not want to come from anywhere else. You need to find good points about your race and learn how to be proud to be who you are? Asians are very hard working strong ppl who are very intelligent they are not second class citizens at all plus they have wicked fashion since

hope you take this on board

DAMN!!!!! I really do not know what to say to all this.

Just because some backward kids on some island in the Mediterranian didn't like your eyes you feel all Asians are inferior...to what...dumb neatherthals from Greece?

Asian history is OLD and varied and rich. China IS the oldest civilization on Earth. You invented gun powder, the rocket, fireworks, Tai chi, and fabulouly horrid kung-fu movies.

I say learn more about Asian culture and learn to love yourself 'cause honey you can't change it.

Hey,
Please don't hate yourself! Everyone on this planet is equal, we are all born with a clean slate and it's our actions that define us not out parentage or our race. I'm sure you are a good person and all the people that put you down and bullied you are so immature. Ignorant people bully and demean people who are different because they don't understand the differences. Please go and live your life to the full and feel proud of who you are through all the good things you can accomplish!

You need to think positively just because you are different does not make you better or worse than anyone else(though I think better than those who are bullying you) yes you are wrong to hate yourself speak to someone close to you your parents or maybe your teacher do not keep this to yourself it will bring you down. As you have said this happening less as you grow older I hope it stops all together good luck in the future I hope things are good for you always.

all people are equal on the inside.. if we get cut we bleed.. if someone puts us down it hurts.. only some people tend to put us down more than others... you must not let other peoples insults get you down and you seriously need to work on your self esteem.. if you do not believe in yourself and love yourself no-one else will... there is good in all of us if you don't like what you see you need to work on how you perceive yourself to be.. maybe speak to your doctor in confidence you might be suffering from depression it can make things a lot worse than they are.. you live a long time.. hating yourself will make it seem a lot longer..
good luck with life.. keep your chin up xx

I hope you've been encouraged by all the other answers.

I've taught Koreans in England and chose to come here to China. I think they are the most wonderfully beautiful people, as well as being polite, kind, considerate, gentle, intelligent.......

You have internalised the racism that others have subjected you to. In time you will realise that you are unique and have many things to feel positive about. You have no need to hate yourself.

Have pride and remember: pure is a bore!
