Mitosis is the production of two identical nuclei or cells. Therefore cloning, in terms of genetic output, is the same as mitosis. However, they're done differently of course.

You have the terms reversed. You can ask how mitosis is like cloning. That is to say that the process of mitosis is cellular replication and that the resulting daughter cells from mitosis are genetically identical to the parent cell. To that level mitosis is like cloning. However, cloning, of even the simplest life-form is far more complicated. To clone an organism, one must have a cell that has had all genetic material removed, then the cloning genetic material must be inserted into the void cell. Then, the modified cell needs to be manipulated into replication. If this is done correctly, you have the earliest steps of cloning. If you are really good at it, you end up with a Dolly or something like it.
