They are against individual freedoms and want to control everything people do with their own body and in their privacy. Why do people still vote for them and the religious right? I'm a Secular Progressive and it just seems more rational to me than the close-minded and outdated ideology of Social Conservatism. Social Conservatives are reluctant to change their views no matter how irrational their beliefs are. Why can't they understand that society needs to evolve and adapt to modern times and that things are not the same they were 200+ years ago?

Well said, my Hispanic brother. I can't take this crap of us having to tolerate social conservatives in power. Why? They want to invade our bodies and tell us how to live according to their moral standards. A democratic society doesn't function this way laws are made for the good of the people not to supress them. Unfortunately, the evangelicals have a lot of power and the South is very much religious and it seems a long way before they lose their power.

I ask the same question about why do people vote for "secular progressives?" All they do is have one point of view and anyone who doesn't agree with that one point of view is an idiot, a threat, and must be silenced. Most secular progressive's point of view in my eyes in irrational and even oppressive. Secular progressive social policies are out dated as well. Your big government days need to come to an end and the secular progressives can't let it go.
The bottom line is don't throw stones in a glass house.

You are a humanist and depend on yourself. You haved your own base and nothing to base it on. If your neighbor wants to do something you don't like is that ok? I believe you are talking about the wrong social group. Look at your question. You are trying to force your issues down everybodies throat, so look in the mirror. The secular issues are killing this country. Just look around, it will collapse soon if it does not change.

It goes against the conservative nature to change, hence the name. How that translates to imposing a narrow view of beliefs onto everyone else is beyond me...
So why do they vote? Because they can't open up to new ideas.

you ask a quation, then answer it. if i stick the original first statement its easy to answer, becuse we desire thefreedoms you claim we do not allow. The constitutionally gurenteed freedom of religion for example, which is being taken by so called Secular "Progressives". your outdated and closed mind ideology which you are trying via lawsuit to force down OUR throats is what seems to us irrational.
