my dad told me last nite that back in the day there used to be a black hockey leauge and supposedly they started the whole hockey thing. now this was right after slavery and they called themselves the chl (colored hockey leauge)...does anybody know anything about this????

Your dad was probably watching ESPN and Sportscenter. They were talking about this the other night. It wasn't AFTER slavery, well maybe right after slavery in Canada but not in general. Actually Canada was a destination in the Underground Railroad. Most of those players were actually former slaves that were brought up through it. The book is Black Ice.

there is some truth to this but then again there isnt blacks did start a hockey leauge but it didnt last long and it didnt origiate hockey it was just run away slaves trying to have fun do some reseach on its pretty cool

ESPN did a segment on it the other day, im sure thats what he saw They were mostly runaway slaves that made it up to Canada (I heard PEI and some other areas)..

yeah they got hockey all started. it was on a sportscenter segment. they invented the slapshot too.
