In a sense oligarchy can be considered serial monogamy. It can because oligarchs are continually moving from one corporate wife to another in their never ending quest for the right mate to extend their control over the less fortunate in society.

An oligarchy is a form of government where the power to govern is held by a group of people (oligarchs), usually people from the elite social levels. It has nothing to do with monogamy, which is a personal relationship between two and only two people.

Start your research here:

"Most classic oligarchies have resulted when governing elites were recruited exclusively from a ruling class, which tends to exercise power in its own interest. The term is considered outmoded today because "few" conveys no information about the nature of the ruling group."
