I also have been dealing with this condition for awhile now. The medical term for it is called hyperhidrosis.
I've found that Certain Dri (available at Rite Aid for $5.99) works wonders for me! Certain Dri is an anti-perspirant only that you have to apply before you go to bed. Though you may think its a little pricey for just a small bottle, trust me it is worth it :) I only have to apply it 1-2 times per week, so the bottle I have right now has lasted me since May 2006. I highly recommend you give it a try!
PS- As for anti-perspirant with deodorant, I love Secret Platinum clear gel. I apply just a tiny amount before getting dressed in the morning. This also helps, plus it smells great, even at the end of the day.
Good luck!
-Edit-
A lot of people suggested Mitchum. I'd just like to add that I tried it and it did not do much for me. Certain Dri is the best, I love it!

I too tried everything under the sun at the grocery store deodorant aisle. Then I tried a product called Certain Dri. It's active ingredient is different than the other products. You ahve to put it on at night, sparingly, and not after a bath. it is a liquid (not a cream, or a gel, a water consistency liquid) It itches/burns the first time you use it, but man, oh man does it work! I am dry for 72 hours at a time, so I reapply every third day. I use my old fashioned deod in the am so I smell good throughout the day, but use the Certain Dri to dry me up. CVS, Eckerds, Walgreens all sell generic versions of it. GOOD stuff!!

Use dricolor, it's available in the UK. You don't need a prescription or anything. I used it and it really works, everything else didn't. You only need to apply it once every 2 days tostart with and gradually only once a week. It stings when you put it on, and it has to be used before you go to bed

I use a product called "Triple Dry". Its about £7.50 and I get it from Boots and I normally get the roll on one. I find its the best by far and works alot better than the average deoderant! You put it on every night and wash it off in the morning and you will be dry as a bone - honestly it REALLY works, it might be pricier than the average one but its worth it!!

I find 'Sure' to be the best, but to be honest what I have found to be the most effective is to wash my underarms with soap every morning. I mean actual, proper soap and not shower gel. I don't know why is makes a difference, but it seems to.

I recommend Mitchum.
If the problem is very bad you may want to see your doctor as you may suffer from over active sweat glands. A small procedure can remove them from under your arm pits, and drastically reduce the problem.

There are 3 'medical' antiperspirants all are available both to buy and on prescription. 2 are roll ons Anhydrol Forte and Driclor, these are identical chemically, and the other is a powder Zeasorb. You could try these.

Mitchums. Roll On. Unscented. Only. Not the one for women, not the one with smell, only this one is the best.
