I look more like my father than my mother who is full-blooded Japanese. My father is Irish-American.

No it is not strange because Blue is the most common eye color of Irish Ancestry. Just because a gene is recessive does not mean that you'll not get that trait. Brown eyes are a dominant gene where blue eyes are recessive to brown, thats like out of a 100 you have like a 40% chance of getting blue eyes. I'm not sure on the stats on that percentage, but when a persons DNA chain is made one will get a set from either parent for each characteristic and abilites. My eyes are evergreen, my grandfather was calico he had one brown eye and one green eye hehe, mine are mainly green with a hint of brown. I'm half Japanese half German...my brother took after my dad's German side and got his hazel/bluish eyes..i took after my mom's Japanese side and got the really dark brown eyes.

what is so strange about that? my husband is caramel in coloring, and arabic with coffee colored brown eyes, i am white with blue eyes, a red face and frekcles. my daughter has blue eyes with yellow in the middle. there is nothing strange about any thing any more. expect the unexpected!

Hazel is green+brown not blue.
