you have to be good at being a jerk, and you gotta be good at ignoring the drug deals that are going on downtown cuz ur too busy sitting in one spot all day using ur fancy laser gun trying to catch people going 10 mph over the speed limit

you also need a working knowledge of where the closest dunkin donuts is from any spot in town

Sarah: Typically subjects in a curriculum called "Criminal Justice" can prepare you for police work....maybe....the maybe depends upon who you are. I mean if you do not have the personality for police work you could really be asking for trouble. Just because you may be interested in something does not mean you are "suited" for it. Most people in the world are interested in things yet 80% of them hate their jobs....so determine your personality along the way...if it matches police work than courses at a Community college or a 4 yr University can provide the Criminal Justice courses you would need...then you'll have to go to a police acadamy somewhere.

Go to http://www.personality-power-for-everyday-living.com and take the Free Myers-Briggs Personality test there. that can give you a good beginning.
All the best.

You should go to school for criminal justice program. You will need to be good with english, psychology and math(not necessarily higher math skills needed but a good foundation in math will help). Any classes that help you to understand people better will help.
