I was just changing a cabinet door in the kitchen and dropped a 5/8" wood screw. Well, my French Bulldog ran over and ate it. He was chewing and gnawing on it for several minutes. But then he swallowed it whole, all while I was trying to get it out of his mouth. I'm not sure what this will do to him internally. What should I do?

Go to the Vet immediately. As the screw is sharp it could scratch the side of his throat and cause internal bleeding. A vet would be able to give him an x-ray

I *noticeably* doubt that he will be able to bypass that. higher than a golfball and your canines weighs what, 50lbs? i might want to say you've were given about 24-40 8 hours before it motives a extreme blockage that would want to kill him. You *might want to* contact a vet. round up some money. call pals, relations, whoever. Ask your vet for a charge plan. Cancel your internet service, cable, promote your iPod or stereo. that is your responsibility and your dedication on your puppy. Be prepared... if it desires to be surgically bumped off (it truly is probable), that is going to run you upwards of $one thousand. the fee we pay for no longer supervising our pets.... my relations discovered the difficult way once, yet we were financially prepared. do no longer supply him a laxative! until eventually you opt for to % up the blockage! do not supply him *any* nutrition until eventually you refer on your vet!

Take him to the vet to be sure. It could become lodged at some point and not be passed during bowel movment.

He will probably pass it but if you want to be really sure go to the vet.

TAKE HIM TO THE VET THEY SHOULD AT LEAST GET SOME X-RAYS JUST TO BE SURE IT IS NOT LODGED IN HIS THROAT. I HAD A 6 MONTH OLD GOLDEN RET.DIE BECAUSE HE SWALLOWED THE METAL PART OF A CLOTHES PIN. AND TWO DOGS WE HAD BOTH HAD TO HAVE SURGERY ONE FOR SWALLOWING TWO SAFETY PINS AND THE OTHER FOR SWALLOWING A STRAIGHT PIN.
GOOD LUCK!

call your vet because if it doesnt come out it could pierce something internally and you could have a bigger problem, or a bigger vet bill!
