Because Kentucky and West Virginia still use whale oil in their lamps.

you don't know what kind of whales they are! They are the bad ones that can't be rehabilitated! If you let them out, they'll kill again!

I don't know why we kill them but I don't think we should stop. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
