Some consider Sir James Galway the best flutist around right now and last I checked, he's a guy. I personally play in a community band right now where 2 out of the 7 flute players are men. I also have noticed that it seems that many symphonies have male flute players too. Guys might not choose to play the flute as often as girls, but it seems the ones who do are very good.

Jethro Tull had a flute player...was the defining sound of their band in my opinion. Personally, I don't know anyone who plays the flute...

there is a kid in my school how has a nickname of bobert and he plays flute, and he is reall good at it too. he is the only one i know of.
